Through classroom study at Miles and internship/work-study experiences in newsrooms, it is our goal to enhance this diverse profession by giving students an opportunity to see it firsthand. Students will be mentored by a team of working journalists, PR professionals and faculty members. Additionally, students will partner with reporters, editors, anchors and producers at local news stations to work on news stories and a newscast they will be developing.
For 7 days, 20 participants will become print reporters, multimedia producers and anchors, and will compete for a $1,000 Journalism Scholarship to attend Miles College to study Mass Communications. Students will take a field trip to The Birmingham News and other local media affiliates.
There is no cost to attend.
The first 20 students to submit completed application packets by the deadline and complete the program will be eligible for a drawing to receive an iPod Touch.
