Project Homeless Connect

Faith Chapel is collaborating with One Roof and more than 50 other homeless advocacy agencies from across Birmingham to support the annual Project Homeless Connect on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Boutwell Auditorium in Downtown Birmingham. This event provides a variety of free services to members of the homeless population living within the Birmingham-Metro area.

Faith Chapel members and friends have been asked to volunteer as “Smiling Faces Client Guides” during this event. Training and Resources are provided.

What is a Smiling Faces Client Guide?

Smiling Faces Client Guides are the first contact clients have at the service center. Their role is crucial in helping engage clients and making them feel welcomed! Client guides are asked to commit to 4.5 hours to ensure your client receives all the service they need.

What are my responsibilities as a Smiling Faces Client Guide?

After signing in, you will be paired with a client and help prepare them for registration and intake. From there, you will ask your client what services they would like to partake in and you will guide them to each station. Your role is to simply talk with them, make them feel welcomed and comfortable!

What about Training?

We will hold a conference call just before the event as well as we will send out a link of that conference call for those that may not have been able to dial in.

Can I bring my kids with me when I volunteer?

Unfortunately, no. We will not have the space or capacity to accommodate children and all volunteers must be 18 and up for this event. We absolutely hate to turn away volunteers, but if you bring your children with you we will have to.

What do I wear on the day of the event?

Volunteers affiliated with Faith Chapel will be given a new volunteer T-shirt, while supplies last, on Sunday, 2/19 and Sunday 2/26 after each service.  Volunteers are asked to wear either the new Faith Chapel volunteer T-shirt (please do not wear the green T-shirts which were previously used) or a RED T-shirt with jeans
